Every time you enter Lofts at 909, you are surrounded by art. I spend a lot of time walking the hallways admiring the large, original oil paintings. Every loft is adorned with at least two paintings. These paintings are just one more luxury that helps me to focus as I take a break from work and reflect on the colorful abstracts covering the walls. There have also been many debates with guests about the meanings within the paintings.
One man who is sure to know the meanings behind the 90 abstract pieces of art within Lofts at 909 is Walter Diehl. Diehl, a Central Pennsylvania artist, was commissioned to create all of the art hanging in the Lofts. His use of color and texture complements the high-end facilities with a feeling of substance and character.
I have seen many apartments and hotels spend a large amount of money on their facilities and then fall short when selecting the art. Lofts at 909 avoided this oversight by covering their walls with fine art from a local artist. If you grow attached to the paintings while living in the Lofts, you can even purchase the art and make it your own!
To see all of the Walter Diehl pieces on display in Lofts at 909, I recommend a tour of the facilities. For a sample of Walter Diehl originals, click here. I will also be posting images throughout the week on Facebook and Twitter.

Harrisburg Is Alive With Music
by manager on April 22, 2010
Since I have been a downtown resident, I have been thoroughly enjoying Harrisburg’s live music scene. On any given night, there is live entertainment performing in the city. I’m also happy to say that every venue showcasing live music is within close proximity to my loft. I never have to drive and enjoy walking the downtown streets to all of the musical venues.
Restaurant Row is a few blocks away and hosts multiple live music venues. Carley’s Ristorante and Piano Bar sets a dark and relaxing mood and you can always find someone tickling the ivory. Just around the corner is Stock’s on 2nd — a great place to eat and enjoy live music. Continuing down 2nd street is Dragonfly Club which hosts DJ’s and large national touring acts from all over. The bottom area of this club is known as the Spyclub and hosts an array of electronic dance DJ’s.
One block away from Lofts at 909 is North Street — home of two live music venues. Der Harrisburg Maennerchor’s Cathedral Room has become known for live music and runs a constant Blues series every Tuesday hosted by community organizations. On the same street is a great restaurant, Mangia Qui with an upstairs bar known as Suba that offers an intimate atmosphere for live music.
Moving into the Midtown area is Stage on Herr, where they host live music almost every night of the week. On the same street is The Midtown Tavern. Locals know it’s a place to get a great chicken wing, play some pool and hear a band. The Midtown Scholar is just up the street and hosts a variety of events including singer-songwriters, poetry readings and lectures. A few blocks up from there is The Appalachian Brewing Company with an outstanding venue and deck called The Abbey Bar. The Abbey is known throughout the area for the live music it showcases.
All of this great entertainment is just steps away from Lofts at 909! You can keep up with my musical excursions on Facebook and Twitter.
